A high-resolution image can still read as fake. What sells realism is internal consistency: light that falls from one direction, materials that scatter it correctly, and depth cues that agree with each other across the frame.
We score generations on those physical signals rather than sharpness alone, and the models that win the test are rarely the ones with the most parameters — they are the ones that respect their own lighting.
